Pret' s French Rose Tea Latte review

Pret' s French Rose Tea Latte review
Pret' s French Rose Tea Latte
Prior to last week, I have never heard nor noticed Pret. Pret is a stop-and-go to "fast food" place. There are sandwiches and drinks you can order... I would say it is a casual version of Starbucks (a mix between Tim Horton's and Starbucks actually).

My friend recommended I try their French Rose Tea Latte. And of course I would get this, since I haven't tried it before.

Impressions:

  • slightly sweet
  • very foamy
  • lots of "Rose" flavouring

I ordered the hot version (initially I ordered the iced version, but they mixed up my order). And it was love at first taste. I liked that it was slightly sweet (I didn't have to add in sugar), and I loved the Rose flavour (it tastes like authentic rose tea).

Set lunch at Pizza Hut [Review]

partial of the set lunch (missing the pizza... see below)
Set Lunch @ Pizza Hut
$200 HKD + $20 tips = $220 HKD (approximately $30 USD)

My choices:
  • Soup
  1. Clam Chowder
  2. Chicken Mushroom soup (cream)
  • Appetizer
  1. Mushroom Risotto
  • Entree
  1. Tropical Pizza (it is Thousand Island Sauce based)
  • Drinks
  1. Berry Fantasy
  2. Ice Coffee

This is not exactly a review, since I won't be reviewing every menu item... but I would say that I was impressed with the quality and quantity. I literally had a 6 month food baby when I walked out of the restaurant.

Tropical pizza
There was one thing I didn't like, and that was the Thousand Island sauce used... usually pizzas made with a Thousand Island Sauce (instead of the usual Pizza Sauce) is nicely flavoured... I found it quite sour tasting... the pinapple was already very tangy... and adding a Thousand Island Sauce made it super sour. Unless you like sour/tangy food... I would suggest you order the other item.

Australian Dairy Company Milk Pudding review

If you are from Hong Kong you must have heard of this place, if you ever plan to travel to Hong Kong, this is a must-go-to place. The Chinese name is: 澳洲牛奶公司

Environment:
extremely casual. People go their in t-shirts and shorts. There is absolutely no service, and you might get offended... that is ok... we all get offended when we go... as one of my friend's had said "their rudeness makes this place unique". Because of the limited number of tables and seats available, you might need to wait for 10 mins to get a seat.

And when you get a seat, you will be asked to sit with strangers.

Efficiency:
As much as there isn't "service", they do a quick job taking your orders, it only took less than 2 minutes from ordering to getting my milk puddings.

Almond Milk Pudding

Almond Milk Pudding $26 HKD (approximately $3.50 USD)

This almond Milk Pudding has got to be one of my favourite milk puddings I have ever had.

Impressions:
  • very smooth
  • strong almond flavour
  • very filling

The Milk pudding was very smooth and there was a strong almond presence to the taste. Make sure you order this when you are slightly hungry. This pudding is extremely filling.

Egg White Milk Pudding
Egg White Milk Pudding $26 HKD (approximately $3.50 USD)

Impressions:

  • very smooth
  • very "milky" taste
  • very filling

This Egg White Milk pudding is also one of their specialties. This milk pudding is extremely smooth Once this milk pudding reaches your mouth, it will instantly melt. There is a rich milk and egg white taste that makes it extremely captivating.

Mrs. Field' s muffins review

Mrs. Field' s muffins review
Mrs. Field's Muffins

For the past few years, I have tried to avoid Mrs. Field's products because I find that they are too sweet, I find their cookies quite overpriced and they are heavily saturated in sugar.

A few days ago, I had the chance to try these Mrs. Field's Muffins and to my surprise, they were not as sweet as their cookies. I have no idea what flavour it was... but after doing research on their website, I think they only have one flavour available.

Price: $16 HKD (Approximately $2.10 USD)

Impressions:
  • mildly sweet
  • slightly dry
  • tasty
  • very filling
Don't let the size fool you, one is more than enough, these muffins are very filling. I wouldn't say they are very addictive, since I found them to be slightly dry. But nonetheless, I was surprised it was so much less sweet.

BreadTalk dessert version review

BreadTalk dessert version review
Breadtalk Logo
Hey everyone,

I am currently in Hong Kong and enjoying the lovely warm hot weather... hope you are well wherever you happen to be.

The other day, I was shopping at Hung Hom in Kowloon, Hong Kong and came across this shop called BreadTalk. The store was nicely decorated and the bread and cakes looked extremely attractive. Out of curiosity, I walked into the store.

Tiramisu $24.50 HKD
Tiramisu $24.50 HKD (approximately $3.25 USD)
Impressions:
  • just like a Tiramisu you get at your local grocery store
  • bland
  • not sweet
  • nothing unique to this Tiramisu
  • lack of texture

There was nothing special about this Tiramisu, I was quite disappointed, it tasted like a Tiramisu you can buy at your local grocery store for half the price.

With the price tag, would expect this item to be much

Texture was not smooth and soft enough

Strawberry Chocolate Souffle $23.00 HKD
Strawberry Chocolate Souffle cake $23.00 HKD (approximately $3.15 USD)

Impressions:
  • not fresh, very dry
  • not enough chocolate taste
  • Lack of fruit
  • Not souffle (unsweetened chocolate cake)

This cake was extremely dry and there was hardly any taste to the cake. There was some coconut sort of taste but the chocolate taste was practically not there (this is terrible since there is chocolate in the name). I felt if they added more fruits the cake would be less dry. To me... it tasted like a unsweetened old chocolate cake

I was quite disappointed in the quality of these 2 items. I was expecting better quality for the

Fancl - Tzone Clear Essence review

Fancl's TZone Clear Essence

A few years ago, my friend noticed my horrendous T-Zone dry/oily parts, so for my birthday, she got me this Fancl essence. (keep in mind that the Asian version is also called "Pore Essence")

Back then, I had no idea about skin care, but I knew that Fancl was a good brand... So I decided to give it a try... Even now, I still use it because it works!

impressions:
  • strong alcohol scent
  • dries skin
  • A fair job minimizing appearance of pores
  • Matte oily parts

Caution:
make sure all the product has been absorbed or you will be left with dry residue later... and that residue is tough to get off.

Pros:
  • Effective
  • Mattes oily skin
  • A little goes a long way

Cons:
  • Temporary oil-control changes (does not change condition of skin)
  • alcohol smell
  • Leaves residue
  • pricey

I really like using this essence because it does help with temporary control, yet I am not a big fan of the alcohol smell or that it leaves residue. Despite this, I do enjoy using this product as a little goes a long way... the product is long lasting (despite the small amount). If you are allergic to alcohol, I suggest that you skip this product.

Lay' s Wavy Milk Chocolate Covered Potato Chips review

Lay's Wavy Milk Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

What do you get when you put two of the more popular snacks together? Chocolate Covered Potato Chips! I wonder how Lay's came up with the idea of putting these two products together... To be honest, I didn't think I would like it but when my friend insisted that it tasted really good... I decided to give it a try... and... I actually kind of liked them.

back of package

Apologies for the blurriness of the photo

Here's the list of the ingredients:
Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Milk Chocolate Liquor, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla), Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Corn, and/or Canola Oil), and Salt. Contains Milk and Soy Ingredients

I am glad these ingredients are quite natural (as with Lay's products), I can pronounce all the ingredients (which means there aren't any chemicals inside).

chip side

These are super addictive, I couldn't help thinking of them... luckily after 3-4 "chips" you will get full. The salt from the potato chips really helped enhanced the flavour making it very interesting... in a moment your taste buds are surrounded with a rich chocolate taste then all of a sudden you are hit with a light salty/oily chip flavour.

I will definitely be buying these again... not for myself but for a group of people (e.g. parties, gatherings, etc)... :P

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review
Cookies and Cream Ice Bar
Cookies and Cream products always appeal to me especially Hershey's Cookies and Cream bars. When I came across this Ice Bar at my local Korean Grocery store I was keen on trying them.

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review
Cookies and Cream Ice Bar
Impression:
  • Hint of coffee
  • Lots of cookies
  • cookies had no taste
  • dry... not creamy
  • hardly any sugar taste

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed, although they have used a black cookie similar to Oreos, it was practically tasteless. The whole bar is slightly sweet and quite dry. To me, it felt like eating a tasteless but heavily calorie product. (I couldn't find the nutrition values for this but anything with cream in it is bound to be fattening)
