Raw Chocolate ice bars short review

Indulging in the Pure Delights of Raw Chocolate Ice Bars

Introduction:

Raw chocolate is a familiar concept to chocolate enthusiasts. Unlike its roasted counterpart, raw chocolate is made from unroasted cocoa and does not contain additives like sugars during the manufacturing process. Most chocolatiers add sugar afterwards to achieve the desired sweetness. This results in a pure and creamy chocolate experience, making it a favourite among connoisseurs.

Discovery of Raw Chocolate Ice Bars:

A few days ago, I stumbled upon an exciting find at my local grocery store: Raw Chocolate Ice Bars. For those who love chocolate, you know how elusive raw chocolate can be. Whenever I come across anything labelled "raw chocolate," I can't resist purchasing it immediately.

one of the raw chocolate ice bars

These particular raw chocolate ice bars were made in Mongolia.

impressions:
  • it has a very strong, rich and full chocolate taste
  • it has a slight mochi (chewy) texture
  • it melts very quickly
  • the tin foil/aluminum packaging made it difficult to unwrap the bar
The chocolate flavour is undeniably intense, rich, and full-bodied. The ice bars possess a delightful mochi-like texture, adding a chewy element to each bite. They melt quickly, ensuring an effortless indulgence.

Given recent experiences with unmeltable popsicles/ice cream from China, I appreciate the fact that these raw chocolate ice bars melt as they should.

the aluminum wrapper made it difficult to unwrap the ice bar

Conclusion:

Discovering these raw chocolate ice bars was a treat. Their strong and rich chocolate taste, coupled with the slight mochi-like texture and quick meltability, made an exceptional experience. If you are a chocolate enthusiast like me, I highly recommend these raw chocolate ice bars. They will allow you to experience the pure allure of raw chocolate.

Morinaga (杏仁豆腐バー) Almond Tofu Bar short review

杏仁豆腐バー by Morinaga (森永)

I love Almond Tofu (杏仁豆腐) especially when I'm having Japanese-Chinese food (中華料理). It is usually lightly sweetened with a hint of Oriental almond taste. The Tofu is smoother than normal tofu. I was very excited to try this :D.

Translation for what is written on the box:

It is a chewy, sticky ice cream (もっちりアイス)
Mainly Coconut fruits and Yellow Peach (椰果&黃桃)

Lactic Ice - this product contains milk (ラクトアイス) (this is important to note since a lot of Asians are lactose intolerant)
It contains 3% of fruit flesh (果肉3%)
It contains coconut fruits (the chewy "fruits" derived from coconuts) (コリコリナタデコ)

杏仁豆腐バー

impressions:

  • very sticky
  • has a nice chewy texture (モチ)
  • was surprised they used coconut fruits for the "fruit elements"
  • a bit sweeter than your normal almond tofu
  • it melts but also doesn't melt

I liked it! I was a bit taken back by the sweetness (compared to normal Almond Tofu), though. I really enjoyed the chewiness of the ice bar and enjoyed munching away at the coconut fruits and yellow peach :)

It was a very chewy experience ;) モチモチ感じ

What I found interesting while eating was the "tofu" elements weren't very cold and weren't melting (they gave in to the warmth of your mouth but not to the warmth of the air), the only part that melted was the icy milk ice cream part. I felt I had enough time to enjoy this and allowed the tofu to melt in my mouth.

I-Mei Pearl Milk Tea Ice Bar short review

I-Mei Pearl Milk Tea Ice Bar short review 義美奶茶冰棒

The Chinese name for this product is 義美奶茶冰棒

義美 (Yimei) is a well-known Taiwanese consumer brand and a major milk processor. I have seen their popsicles (ice pops, etc) at T&T (a Taiwanese grocery store) for years.

During this pandemic, it has been very inconvenient to go out and get bubble tea so I have been looking for alternatives.

I saw these ice pops/popsicles and decided to give them a try.

impressions:

  • milky side is very milky
  • tapioca is very chewy (and made to a perfect chewy consistency. it is not too soft or hard, just perfect)
  • the "tea" side is good milk tea quality

It certainly pays to be a major milk processor, the milky side is so good... it actually reminds me of milk ice cream in Tokyo!

So... I'm very impressed! These have definitely satisfied my milk tea (bubble tea) craving and I highly recommend them... in fact, they are so good, I might just start getting these in the future (instead of ordering bubble tea)... fingers crossed they come up with more flavours!

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review
Cookies and Cream Ice Bar
Cookies and Cream products always appeal to me especially Hershey's Cookies and Cream bars. When I came across this Ice Bar at my local Korean Grocery store I was keen on trying them.

Korean Binggrae Cookie and Cream Ice Bar review
Cookies and Cream Ice Bar
Impression:
  • Hint of coffee
  • Lots of cookies
  • cookies had no taste
  • dry... not creamy
  • hardly any sugar taste

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed, although they have used a black cookie similar to Oreos, it was practically tasteless. The whole bar is slightly sweet and quite dry. To me, it felt like eating a tasteless but heavily calorie product. (I couldn't find the nutrition values for this but anything with cream in it is bound to be fattening)

Lavelee Richmond chocolate almond review

packaging

The Pure Natural Freshness, I love these, one of my favourite Korean popsicles (?). These are Coffee flavoured ice bars coated with a almond and chocolate crust.

Thoughts:
- sweet outer coating
- mild coffee (not very sweet)
- great packaging

yum, points for looking really similar to the image on the packaging label
I forgot to take a picture of the packaging. When you buy these, they come in 4, you get a sort of thermal bag, you can't reuse it but it is very thoughtful of them. It is extremely useful when you are trying to transport them from the grocery store to your home fridge (on hot summer days). The thermal/foam packaging keeps these nice and cool.
after the first bite (>:D)
The coating of chocolate and almond isn't very hard or crispy. It is quite thick. The coating is also quite sweet, I would prefer dark chocolate, luckily, the coffee inside is not very sweet, so it is a perfect match when you eat them together.
