Tohato's Beef ザクホル review

A word of caution before I start the review, these have scared me several times... once you open the bag, it literally smells like there is something burning (literally smells like a fire somewhere in the building), so please be careful...

Since I can hardly read Japanese, I thought these, like the pork horumon snack was the real "beef horumon". They aren't. They are only made out of wheat, flour, oil, etc.

there weren't a lot in the bag... but since I didn't like the taste, I thought that was already too much... also... they make it seem like there's a fire somewhere in the building.... VERY SCARY!

they look cute, but they aren't what I thought they were... only crisps that are "supposed" to be like cow organs... only they taste nothing like the real thing...

score: 2/10

UHA 味覚糖さけるりんご review

UHA 味覚糖さけるりんご review

I have found an interesting candy! It is stringy candy... and it is apple flavour! (They also have grape, mango and melon). They also explicitly say that you must keep this gummy in an environment of 28 degrees Celcius or lower.

Before I get into the fun part, let me give you an overview of what is inside this stringy candy. (speaking of fun, check this page for weird commercials about this gummy... there are 11 episodes!)

They claim they use apple juice from Aomori apples. For those that do not know, Aomori Apples are known to be one of the best apples in the world (taste and size).

Ingredients: (Aspartame · L-phenylalanine compound, acesulfame K), coloring agent (carotenoid), vitamin C (carotenoid), sugar, vegetable processed oil, starch syrup, collagen, concentrated apple juice, apple / cellulose, acidulant, emulsifier, , (Some apple / gelatin is included)
*I'm surprised! while it isn't the most healthy candy...

Here are the nutrition facts:
Energy 18 kcal, protein 0.3 g, lipid 0.7 g, carbohydrate 3.0 g, salt equivalent 0.001 g / collagen 240 mg per standard nutrition labeling (4.7 g standard)
Allergic substances included in raw materials (out of 27 items) Apples · Gelatin
※ This product is manufactured with common equipment with products including milk.

there are 7 of these little packets inside

So now that is over with and the ingredients haven't scared you... here is the fun part!

UHA 味覚糖さけるりんご review
When you remove the packaging, the gummy is flat with a lot of ridges. You basically pull the gummies from their ridges. They aren't super easy to take apart, but once you get the hang of it, you will know how hard you should pull and where you should pull from.

tada!
This reminds me of Cheesestring, but it is sweet apple flavoured. The taste was really good! It was sweet but not very sweet. I highly recommend it!

score: 9/10!! (because there were only 7 inside T_____T)

Doutor’s こんがりうす焼トースト review

Doutor is one of the most popular coffee chains in Tokyo. Their coffee is one of the local favourites in Tokyo. You can find a Doutor at most places around Tokyo. Since it is a local favourite, it is no wonder they would start selling products under their name using their famous coffee taste.

The title, こんがりうす焼トースト, literally translates to thin toast crisps.

[栄養成分] 1袋(52g)当たり
エネルギー:248kcal / たんぱく質:4.9g / 脂質:10.1g / 炭水化物34.3g / 食塩相当量:0.68g

[Nutritional information] per bag (52 g)
Energy: 248 kcal / Protein: 4.9 g / Lipid: 10.1 g / Carbohydrate 34.3 g / Salt equivalent amount: 0.68 g
inside of the package

impressions:

  • sweet, but not too sweet
  • toast taste on one side
  • sweet coffee sugar (similar to cinnamon toast crunch... but with coffee) on the other side
  • addictive
  • literally tastes like plain toast (if you take off all the sweet coffee sugar)

the actual product
I really liked these... I couldn't stop munching on them... they were really good and make a good snack, the whole bag is only 248 calories and only ¥100/bag.

Score: 9/10

味のこだわり Japanese Snack - Aji no kodawari, snack review

After  discovering about those 好きです 北海の味 I discovered, there are other kinds of snacks from the same company (Denroku). These are just as good, so I was very happy, but at the same time, I had to cringe at the price ($7.99/14 packets). They are expensive but they are Made in Japan and they are very high quality. Den Ruku makes really good snacks!

The website introduces them as
"小魚、えび、いかなど潮の香りがいっぱいつまった8種類のおいしさです。"
(literal translation: fully jam-packed with 8 different flavours which composes of small fish, shrimp, squid)

If the other ones I tried were king, these are queen! Actually, they are both good, just that I have already given the "king" title to those already.

Similarly to the other snack, I do not know how they manage to fit 8 different types of "munchies", each with their own distinct flavours  into a packet and each munchy is able to preserve it's flavour without affecting the others. It is truly amazing!

back of package

I do not know why they had only introduced 2 products on the back when there are really 8. It was such a great experience tasting these because each was so distinctive in their own flavour, I never knew what to expect when I put one in my mouth. Here's some I tried Rice "Krispys", shrimp sticks, (when you look at the packaging, there are some with "white" tops, those white tops are actually wasabi! Some are coated in seaweed and others are filled with peanuts.

contents of a random pack

These were very crunchy, except for the fish. The fish was hard... my teeth almost gave in! I think there was too much "syrup" or sugar there.

I hope T & T puts mores of these munchies on their shelves so I can try more! These are definitely worth exploring!

好きです 北海の味 Japanese Snack - sukidesu, snack review

好きです 北海の味 ; I picked a package of these at T&T, I cringed at the price $7.99/14 packets. I haven't had these for so long so I decided to buy it any way. They are surely expensive (they are authentically from Japan/Made in Japan though).

These are by far the best munchies I have ever had!!!!! (And that is saying a lot, I have had a lot of history with other munchies... but this is... king!)

The website describes this as: 北海の幸をはじめとした豆菓子、せんべいなど9種類のおいしさ。
(literal translation please excuse any errors: Taste Hokkaido with these 9 flavourful fruits and crackers.)

I do not know how they manage to fit 9 different types of "munchies", each with their own distinct flavours (e.g. bbq) into a packet and each munchy is able to preserve it's flavour without affecting the others. It is truly amazing!

I won't go into the details of each flavour (maybe in an edited version later or do a translation of the image above) but basically they have different flavours (e.g. shrimp, seaweed, bbq, some have a peanut at its core, calamari, etc).

I highly HIGHLY recommend this munchies pack because it tastes so good (a word of caution, don't eat it as a "snack" to fill the stomach, it won't fill your stomach, but with it's quality and flavours you will definitely be able to satisfy your taste buds.
