Cheetos Ketchup short review

I saw these at Costco, and there were only a few remaining, I was very fortunate to even get a bag, the moment I got a bag, 3 other people came and snatched a few bags. There were none left after that. People were snatching these up like hotcakes!

This combines two of my favourite snacks, ketchup chips and Cheetos. I misunderstood the packaging and thought there was a cheesy underlay to these Cheetos, so I was surprised on the first bite, that these are purely ketchup-flavoured. I can't say I'm disappointed though, the ketchup flavour is very delicious, even better than Lay's. It has the right amount of tanginess but is not too tangy to the point it can be sour.

thoughts and impressions:
  • no cheesy taste at all
  • mild and perfect ketchup taste
  • no sour vinegar taste (like Lay's Ketchup chips)
  • very crunchy
  • addictive

I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and I couldn't stop munching on them. I highly recommend them! However, if you are looking for a sharp tanginess, than these are not for you.

Poutine @Costco (Canada) review

Costco's Poutine $4.39 + tax

Coldness is the season of being fat... It forces us to make unwise choices... But what can we do? We need to stay warm and we need comfort food like Poutine to help us...

I made my unwise choice at Costco earlier last week... I ordered Poutine... After all... I AM Canadian... And when people think of Canada, winter and food...? Poutine comes to mind...

However. As unwise as it may seem.. It was surely a delicious one =9

receipt... I didn't get the Ice Cream... I just got my share of the hot dog though :P

Impressions
  • Lots of cheese curds
  • Freshly crispy fries
  • Gravy was a little too thick

Costco is one of the best places to eat at after a long shop at their warehouse... The food items are extremely affordable and they are very tasty.

Their Poutine was no different. The Poutine was freshly made, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The cheese curds were a perfect consistency, some where melted so that when you pulled out a fry the cheese would stretch, the cheese curds were also very chewy. I was slightly disappointed with the gravy as 1. Too thick and 2. There wasn't much taste to it...

It would be a really good Poutine if they "fixed" their gravy.

I will be getting this again... Hopefully not too soon though ;)

M & M Poutine review

M & M Poutine review
M&M's Poutine

Canadian Pride! Poutine is one of the very meal/snack (whichever you prefer to call it) that makes us proud of Canadian cuisine!

As you would expect a recipe containing Fries, Gravy and Cheese Curds, it would not be very healthy.

M & M Poutine review

29 grams of Fat per tray!!! Be careful what you eat!

impressions:
  • very dry, tastes like prefrozen fries
  • needs more gravy
  • sauce not evenly spread
  • does not taste like poutine
  • easy to make (you just need a microwave)

This is how it looks once you take it out of the box. Remember to remove the film from the container before microwaving this.

cooked, straight out of the microwave

This is how it looks once it is cooked... I don't even want to show you what the picture looks like on its official website, you will be very disappointed.

M & M Poutine review
my attempt to transfering and evening out the gravy and  melted cheese

This was my attempt spread the gravy and melted cheese (I don't think these were cheese curds). You can see how I have totally failed in trying to "mix" everything up

M & M Poutine review
half finished poutine

This is how the bottom of the tray looked... you can see why I tried to mix the gravy and cheese curds better...

I have always loved M&M Meat Shop's food, quality is good... but for this Poutine, I am very disappointed.

Gabby's Bar and Grill review

half price wings available every Monday and Wednesday

Gabby's is located on Bloor near Avenue road, it seem to be one of more affordable places (for a simple casual dinner). The restaurant is a bar/diner type of restaurant.

Due to the extremities, I will split this review into 3 parts: food, drinks and service. Read on and you will know what I mean:

Food:
Food was good quality given the price, I was quite satisfied with the tenderness and smoothness of the fried Halibut. The wings were average, we were fortunate to go there on Monday and make use of their half price wings. The portions were quite filling. We couldn't even finish the fries.

Halibut Fish and Chips

Drinks:
I ordered Cranberry juice, something you can't go wrong with because it is one of the MOST common drinks, I don't know WHAT type of cranberry did they use (or if it is even cranberry juice), it tasted like cranberry syrup (the artificial concentrated kind)

Service:
Service was TERRIBLE! I thought our waiter was friendly at first, but after asking several times and dealing with the server, I was absolutely disappointed. It was alright he kept forgetting our orders, his attitude was terrible, he made it seem like we were giving him so much trouble when all we wanted was some food and drinks (which were placed during our initial order). When we got the bill, it was approximately $30 (which is quite a deal), we didn't have change so we put in $40. When he picked up our money and bill, he had the guts to ask if we wanted any change....(?!?!?!), we were just speechless.

I am reconsidering whether I will return to Gabby's... the food (and perhaps price) seems to be the only thing that is worth going back for.

Grower's BC Original Cider Since 1927 alcohol review

Grower's Cider IS CANADA’S #1 CIDER!

According to it's website

"It contains 7% alcohol and is made with 100% all natural flavours. Perfect for any occasion, serve Growers over ice and you won't be disappointed."

I got to taste this "#1 Cider" at a friend's bbq party! It's quite tasty and enjoyable, not too strong or not too light, so it is perfect if you want something to refresh yourself (at a barbecue or a hot summer's day) and the peach flavour is strong, highly recommend it. Based on the picture you can see how clear it is... (I am a big fan of "clear" drinks)
