Kirkland Shrimp Taco short review

I recently came across these Shrimp Tacos by Kirkland at Costco and was curious how seafood and tacos could work. I bought them preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. To my surprise, these not only tasted good... they exceeded my expectations!

I wasn't planning on writing a review, so we took about 8 fried shrimp worth of tacos before I took a picture. 

I have a feeling this meal kit is offered for a limited time, so if you see it, I highly recommend you grab it before they are gone. 

This Cilantro Lime Cream was one of the highlights of this meal kit, it tastes so good, that I can literally eat it like yogurt with a spoon... hahaha. (I won't... but I can imagine doing this)

Look at the size of that fried shrimp! I didn't realize how massive it was until I set it on top of the taco!

The shrimp was fresh, had a nice fresh shrimp taste and the thickness of the batter complemented the taste very well with an added crispness. (you need to reheat the fried shrimp in an oven for about 15 mins and the taco shells for about 5 mins)

Unlike traditional tacos, which rely mostly on lettuce, the salad toppings had a lot of cabbage, cilantro and various chopped-up veggies. 

 These are very filling <3

Cinnamon Danish Rolls

It has been a while since I saw a YouTube video raving about Kirkland's Cinnamon Danish Rolls (found at Costco). After eagerly waiting for them to arrive at my local Costco, I was finally able to get my hands on them!

Appearance:

When I first saw them, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. The rolls didn't look as appetizing as I had imagined—they appeared slightly dry and looked unappetizing. Nevertheless, I decided to give them a try.

The pictures you see here don't do these cinnamon rolls any justice... they look small and regular-sized in the pictures... but in reality, they are bigger than the size of my palm. 

Taste:

The Cream Cheese (or frosting or icing) is quite sweet, so I found it best to heat them up before enjoying them. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference. Heating the rolls not only melts the cream cheese/frosting/icing, allowing it to coat the cinnamon rolls better but it also reduces the concentrated sugary taste, but it also makes the outer shell crispy and gives it a creamy, buttery, and aromatic flavourful interior.

Impressions:

• must be heated (in an oven... or if you don't have one, in a microwave)
• Cream Cheese/frosting/icing is very sweet (make sure it is melted before you eat it)
• (after you warm it in an oven) the outside is super crispy and the inside is very creamy
• it has the exact amount of cinnamon sugar inside

To truly savour these rolls, I highly recommend heating them, either in an oven or a microwave. This way, the cream cheese/frosting/icing is melted. Once warmed, you'll experience a delightful contrast between the super crispy exterior and the creamy interior. The cinnamon sugar is perfectly balanced, creating a delightful taste.

Comparison:

I hate to make comparisons, but these cinnamon rolls actually taste better than the ones I've had at Tokyo's Starbucks, which is renowned for its cinnamon rolls in Asia. Firstly, these rolls are larger than the ones offered at Starbucks. Secondly, they possess a stronger cinnamon sugar taste. And lastly, they have a wonderful texture with a crispy exterior and a warm, creamy interior, unlike Starbucks' cinnamon rolls which maintain the same texture throughout.

Verdict:

If it's not already obvious, I absolutely LOVE these cinnamon rolls! My family devoured them in just two days, which is a record considering their generous size. Even my dad, who isn't usually a fan of cinnamon, couldn't resist finishing them.

However, it's important to note that each roll contains 410 calories, which is something to consider. Despite the calorie count, if you're a fan of cinnamon rolls, I highly, highly recommend giving these a try. They strike the perfect balance with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar, and the Danish pastry provides a delightful crispy exterior and a luxuriously creamy interior.

Kirkland Borghese Luscious Lashes Volumizing Mascara review

 

Costco has won my heart over many many things... I'm hoping makeup will be one of them. I needed a new mascara and this was the perfect opportunity to buy one.

These come in a pack of two and cost $30.00+tax (CAN). 

I have been using this for a few months and am confident enough to give a review.

features: 

• coats lashes from root to tip to lift and lengthen
• double fibre brush loads maximum volume to curl lashes
• flexible, lightweight formula
• safe for contact lenses wearers and sensitive eyes
• paraben free
• fragrance-free
• ophthalmologist tested

impressions:

pros:

• easy to apply (the wand makes it easy to swipe from the root to the ends)
• no irritations (skin or eyes)
• very lightweight (does not weigh down my lashes and
  I do not notice it and it does not distort my vision)
• when you twist the top off, the wand slightly pops out
• buildable but natural (doesn't give you the spider legs effect)
• no fallout and does, not flake
• the texture of the formula is very smooth

cons:

• it smudges after a few hours (giving you "panda eyes")

sadly, the one con I have for this product is that it leaves me looking like a panda after 10 -ish hours of applying. So remember to check in the mirror to remove (with makeup wipes, when you are outside) any product that has smudged or somehow ended up on your skin.

I really like this product... unlike some mascaras that have an off-putting odour, this one doesn't. It dries quickly. I really enjoy using this because it doesn't cause any irritation.

Comparison: Kirkland's Almond Covered Vanilla Ice Cream Bars vs Haagen Dazs Vanilla Almond Chocolate Bars

 

I finally got my hands on Kirkland's almond chocolate and vanilla ice cream bars and loved it! Kirkland's version has been very popular because of the cheaper price tag. I went on a lot of community forums and they have insisted that these two are very similar. So I decided to test out Kirkland's version against Haagen Daz's (which I have loved for many many years) for you.

I was surprised as to how identical the taste was... but I noted some key differences. here's what they are:

Taste is subjective... so if having more almonds is what you prefer, then Haagan Daz's Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond bars would be better for you.

If you prefer a creamier, milkier vanilla bar taste and like darker and richer chocolate, then Kirkland's would be your go-to. (I was extremely surprised how Kirkland's version has a lower calorie count! :O)

I'll let you decide, but for me (since the almond count doesn't really bother me), I think it is quite obvious that Kirkland's is the clear winner here :D
