Wet'n Wild Break up proof eyeliner - Black Brown review

Wet'n Wild has always resonated with me as a "beginner's make up product". I was first introduced to it when I was still in grade 7, but have gone to other higher ended brands ever since. Their products are vegan and cruelty-free and very affordable. (This eyeliner was less than $3.00).

btw, I have a referral code (good for new and existing customers, you get 5% off your purchase using this code at iHerb: https://www.iherb.com/?rcode=CVX9348)

This is a retractable thick eyeliner.
It claims to last 16 hours, cry-proof, humidity-proof and smudge-proof.
They say it is ophthalmologist tested and safe for contact lens wearers.

This is a detailed description from their website:
Our waterproof, silky formula is lightweight, comfortable, and glides onto the lids without tugging or pulling the delicate eye area. The satin gel formula delivers up to 16 hours of long-lasting, pigment-rich color in every effortlessly, smooth application. Smudge-proof, cry-proof and humidity-proof.

ingredients:

Synthetic Wax, Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Phenylpropyldimethylsiloxysilicate, Microcrystalline Wax/Cire Microcristalline, Isobutylmethacrylate/Bis-Hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Acrylate Copolymer, Polyisoprene, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, [+/- (MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR): Iron Oxides/CI 77491, 77492, 77499, Black 2/CI 77266, Ultramarines/CI 77007, Ferric Ferrocyanide/CI 77510, Titanium Dioxide/CI 77891]. [1910-2]

outcome

impressions:

  • that is a lot of ingredients for an eyeliner
  • it isn't easy to use, hard to get a desirable line
  • quite waxy and left residue
  • the "line" isn't consistent and can be very patchy
  • not smudge-proof, all you need is a tissue and it can be removed
  • very budget-friendly (only $3.00)
  • colour is nice, not 100% natural-looking but nothing "bold"
  • good for quick fixer-uppers
  • according to the website, it is safe for contact lenses wearers

Verdict:

While it is an affordable eyeliner, I didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. It was extremely hard to control the consistency of the product, and it is very waxy (not silky, as they claim). It left a lot of additional "residue" which makes it easy to make mistakes. If you are only looking for something that will make do for emergency situations then this is a great choice since it is affordable, but if you are trying to get a certain look, then this might not be a good product for you.

Canmake Quick Easy Eyeliner review

Canmake Quick Easy Eyeliner review
Canmake Quick Easy Eyeliner in brown

So I stumbled upon this eyeliner which I was shopping for eyeliners. The "Quick-Easy Eyeliner" text caught my attention.

Canmake claims that this eyeliner is great for beginners and very easy to use. You will have great control in making all sorts of shapes. Since there wasn't a tester, I had to buy it (it was ¥550), so it was very affordable.

I threw away the packaging, but I remember it said that this eyeliner is waterproof but can be washed off with hot water. It is smudge-proof and resistant to sweat, oil and tears!

This is what the tip looks like but it is very stiff... I'm still a beginner so I couldn't tell whether that was a good or bad thing.

It is a felt tip type with a 1.65mm thickness.

However, I had trouble drawing lines on my hand... the tip was hard to control and it left uneven double strokes... I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. While it felt soft on my hand, when I used it on my eyelids, it was a different story. The tip of the liner scratched my eye and it was very hard to control... (the scraps weren't severe to the point it wounded me or left me in tears but it was enough to feel discomfort)

I didn't have to use warm water, it just removed with normal cold/lukewarm water...

the results are average... you can see I couldn't properly make the line to the end... I find it hard to fill in after I make my initial line.

definitely not a fan...

score: 1/10 (one for staying true to colour)

Canmake's Gel Line Artist eyeliner review

after having a positive experience with Canmake's eyeliners, I decided to buy more of their products. This time I came across their Gel Line Artist Eyeliner and decided to buy both the black and brown one. These were cheaper (if I remember correctly they were ¥550 each).

pros

  • product can be retracted (I prefer this twist up and twist down design)
  • waterproof
  • only good if you are into subtle (very subtle) eyeliners

cons

  • lack of pigment
  • too hard. It literally hurt my skin when I apply it
  • while the twist up and down design is good, the tip easily snaps off
it is pigmented on my hand

I am disappointed in this product. I can't understand how two eyeliners from the same company can be so different?

On my hand, there is lots of pigment... that's because the skin on my hand is tougher and less sensitive... but when I apply it to my eye... there is no colour... and it felt like the tip was scraping the skin. I don't understand how something that feels so hard on my skin can snap off so easily...

score: 3/10 (7/10 if you are into subtle eyeliners)

Canmake Creamy Touch Liner review

Canmake Creamy Touch Liner review
Canmake's Creamy Touch Liner
In 2018 I discovered eyeliner. Once you see yourself with eyeliner, you can't go back. It is life-changing. It makes you feel awake and without it, you always seem to look tired.

Since I am still very new to all of this, I am constantly on the lookout for eyeliners (you will see my reviews on other eyeliners as I find ones that really stand out (good or bad)).

Canmake's Creamy Touch Liner was one of the first that really impressed me.

The promotions at the drugstore said that it is a gel liner in a form of a stick, making it easy to use.

There are two colours: dark brown and black. I have used both and both are good

dark brown on the left and black on the right

and a disclaimer, this product is new but very popular... I had to go to 5 drugstores to find them.

pros:

  • glides on your eyes
  • easy to control the consistency
  • stays on and lasts all day
  • doesn't smudge (but will fade if you rub your eyes)
  • easy to use (I'm still a beginner and it was easy to get the shape I wanted)
  • clean (just turn the dial and get
  • always sharp and stays the same diameter
  • it is a gel eyeliner but you don't have to carry a brush and container with you, only a stick!

cons:

  • easily dries out
  • once you have gotten too much product out, you can't put it back in the stick (so be careful)
  • you never know how much you have left
  • not waterproof
  • if you rub your eyes too hard, it will transfer (but you can still see the product on your eyes, faded)
I will definitely repurchase. Since I am still quite new with eyeliners, I can only give a score based on my limited experience with eyeliners.
