Etude House Tear Eye Liner #WH901 review

Hey Everyone, I sincerely apologize for the lack of reviews... I have been stressing over a lot of things lately (personal, work, etc). So I wasn't able to focus on writing reviews (I have a lot of drafts sitting in my drafts folder waiting to be written...). But at last... I finally completely a review! :D

Etude House Tear Eye Liner #WH901 review
product

The other day, I was shopping at Lumine in Shinjuku, and I came across Etude House (I love Korean Cosmetics). I decided to walk in and see what new products they have. I saw their Tear Eye Liner and was curious... the description said it was an eye liner for your tear and under eye water line. Because this product was so intriguing, I bought it.

Since the best selling one seemed to be #WH901, I bought it! We have all been waiting for a product like this, some times, we try to put some light shimmery eye shadow at the bottom of our eyes to brighten them... BUT... the shimmery does not last so long. This is the perfect solution, it literally stays on as long as eye liner.

applicator

The applicator was very fine, it made it easy to apply! (in fact, much easier than regular eye liner). The applicator made precise strokes.

You can instantly see results... I don't have to say much... :P It really brightens up the eyes and makes you look so much more awake. You can also see how my dark circles are less obvious.

without product
Before discovering this product, I would always use eye shadows to brighten up my eyes, but after using this product, I realized how the effect is so much better than a regular eye shadow. I highly recommend it!

how product looks...
All you need is one stroke.

impressions:

  • very easy to apply
  • makes eyes look so bright!
  • love this product
  • easy to remove with eye make up remover (even with the sparkles :D)
This is a special product and a very innovative one. Who knew that one thin stroke can make such a huge difference on our overall finished look! It was very easy to apply but I also found it annoying to get rid of the sparkles... but all that can e fixed with using an eye make up remover!

Maybelline Big Eyes Barbie mascara review

Maybelline Big Eyes Barbie mascara review
Maybelline Big Eyes Barbie mascara

I have been seeing these around Watson's... Maybelline has been one of my favourite mascara's for several years because of their innovative products (such as falsie). This product is no different, I was intrigued with the double ended mascara while discovering that the other side contains fibres to extend your eye lashes.

Maybelline Big Eyes Barbie mascara review
info... the ingredients seem quite safe

The ingredietns seem safe and there doesn't seem to be a lot. The instructions tell you that you need to add a layer of black (mascara) then a layer of white (fibres), then another layer of Mascara.

Cotton/adding length end with fibres

The fibres look like cotton candy. It was quite interesting to see... I thought it looked like a moldy wand (lol).

Mascara
This is the mascara side. Like most Maybelline mascara wands, this one has lots of product on the wand.

before and after
From left to right: my normal eye lashes, my eye lashes coated with one layer of mascara and one layer of fibre, and finally coated with one last layer of mascara.

I don't have to tell you which side has the mascara on

You can see the results. My eye lashes are obviously so much longer and fuller.

To remove:

all you need is a face towel drenched in warm water, put it over your eyelashes (or eyes) for about 10 seconds and wipe. Voila! extremely easy to remove.

Impression:

  • very easy to apply
  • fibres can be slightly clumpy
  • washable, very easy to remove
  • you can layer (for a dramatic look)

Pros:

easy to remove
easy to apply
makes my eye lashes so much fuller

Cons:

a bit expensive
not water proof
fibres and mascara clump
not a lot of product

I have only seen this product in Hong Kong, not even in Tokyo. I wonder if it is a limited edition. Any how, it is a good product and would repurchase.

Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow review

Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow review
Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow #5 Woody Gold

I usually don't get cheap cosmetics (anything under $5, ¥500) because I care about my skin. Cosmetics are already bad for your skin... if you get the cheaper ones, which are made of cheaper materials, it would harm your skin even more.

BUT... Daiso is a bit different... 1. It is Japanese (most, if not all Japanese products/brands have a certain quality control to their products, ensuring that it is safe for you), 2. Most beauty gurus who care about their skin have blogged about their products

Out of the few available I chose #5 Woody Gold, I liked the colour. Since it was Daiso, there wasn't a tester available, so I just had to guess what might suit me more.

Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow review
product

The product is very simple, eye shadow on a stick, very easy to apply. All you need is a steady (or steady enough) hand to put the colour on your eye lids!

pigment on hand

Pros:

  • strong pigment
  • easy to use
  • washable
  • long lasting (you can use the product for a long time... many uses)
  • very affordable (only ¥108)

Cons:

  • easy to wash off
  • not visible in every lighting (for this colour)

Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow review
1. without 2. & 3. with eyeshadow in different lighting
I really liked the pigment, it is so pretty and it is visible on my eyelids. The only problem is that it isn't visible in EVERY type of lighting.

It is washable (which can be a good or bad thing), but if you don't "touch" it much, it would last you for quite a few hours... and it is very affordable!

Daiso Shiny Eye Shadow review
lots of product
I really like this stick, it is easy to carry and very easy to use. I usually struggle with applying eyeshadows with a sponge, but using this stick was so natural. It was very easy to correct (just take a wet Q-tip[cotton bud]) and the mistake is fixed. I liked the colour, it looks natural but ads a special "shine".

I wished it was more repellent to water and the colour was visible in more lightings.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain review

All a girl needs is lipstick! This is what we say when a lip colour is good enough that all we need to put on is that lip colour, and we do not need to wear any more make up... This is so true for this lip balm.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain review

5 words: This is a fantastic line!...

I have been using this product for about  a year now, and I still have quite a lot of product left on the product I purchased since last year. I have only used one the 025 - Sweetheart Valentine. One is enough to convince me that this is a wonderful line. Of all the colours available, the 025 Sweetheart Valentine seems to be the most attractive. The other colours are good too, but this swatch seems to be the most versatile of them all (the colour is both casual and formal, it is suitable for most occasions).

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain review 025 - Sweetheart Valentine
you can see how vivid the colours are here, I used the product on the left side of my lips

I love it because the color is very girly. It doesn't make it look like I am trying to hard to impress yet enough for people to notice the girliness. When you apply this product it literally glides on to your lips easily. (Sometimes when I'm putting on this product I like to pretend I'm like those women in movies where they easily put on lipstick in one try, this product makes it happen like that)

pros:
- great colours
- vivid colours (very pigmented)
- affordable
- long last colour
- long lasting product
- slightly moisturizes your lips
- build-a-ble (range from soft stain to bold lipstick colour)
- easily glides on lips (like those commercials)

cons:
- NOT a lip stain
- weird minty taste
- suitable for summer but not winter (especially for moisturizing reasons)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain review 025 - Sweetheart Valentine
see how vivid the colour is, and notice how the top stroke is less pigmented then the second one
You can see how the product is build-a-ble.Take a look at the first stroke compared to the second stroke. For the first stroke I only applied the product once and for the second, I applied it twice. You can see how the second stroke is much more vivid. You can also compare the colour with the product before it is applied to my hand. AND despite my hand being so pale (compared to normal lips) you can see how vivid it looks. Imagine how it would look on lips!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain review 025 - Sweetheart Valentine
what it looks like when I wipe it product with tissue (the tissue and the skin)
This proves this is not REALLY a lip stain... maybe close to being a lip tint. See how easily the product can be wiped off and left with almost no presence on my hand.

The colours are more suitable for Summer as well as the moisturizing capabilities. (the product helps me moisturize my lips during the summer time but for winter, I will need to apply some lip balm before using this product)

I like the colour range they have, price is reasonable (did I tell you one stick lasted me for a year? I put on that lip colour almost every day), you can find it at most drug stores (if not all)

Update Feb. 19, 2014:
Since I have finally finished this product. I want to mention how I appreciate the ease they have made it that even when you are almost done your product, the container does not drill a hole into the product (e.g. chapsticks and other traditional lip balms) and the product can easily be retracted back into the container.

10/10 by far the best lip colour I have used so far!!

Etude House Dear Darling Tint review

tagline: Jelly Lip Tint for Rouge Colored Lips

I find this product very interesting and fun, I wouldn't recommend you to use this if you are in a hurry, it takes a while for the "jelly" to dry, and  if you don't wait, it will be as if you haven't applied on any lip colour in the first place.

I got the Dear Darling Tint "No.2 Real Red"

you can see what it looks like before and after product is still wet here

I think this is a fun product, but not a very practical one. As it is jelly based, you basically need to use quite a lot of the product when you use it once. They smell like grape but taste disgusting.
close up shot (sorry, took this picture at a different time, so product is on (left side) other side (compared to other picture)

Pros:
  • lip stain
  • nice colour
  • new and innovative way to apply lip colour
  • applicator makes it very easy to apply and control (the colour).

Cons:
  • bottle does not last long
  • long wait time
  • dries out your lips
  • product does not last very long on your lips
  • product colour is not very strong (I guess that why it is called a "tint")

don't be afraid to put on too much (I was a bit freaked out when I first applied this), the jelly will dry and the product's colour will be less apparent. The Jelly made it really hard to smooth out, Thank goodness the applicator was really precise to apply colour on.

wand/brush of Dear Darling Tint
wand/brush of Dear Darling Tint (sorry for the picture quality)

I really like that it works like a lip stain, I don't like the "jelly" stickiness (of the product even when it has dried). When it dries it mattifies, there is no glossy finish (despite that, you can still feel the stickiness from the "jelly" ).

after the product dries on your lips, see how subtle the colour becomes after (I have applied the product all over my lips in this photo)

If you are looking for a subtle lip colour (as if you aren't really wearing any lip colour products) then this is a really good product for you.

After heading out for dinner, you can see that there is a little (30%) of the product left (it is more apparent in real life)
